The information we collect
When you send an email to us to provide your comments and feedback on this site, we inevitably collect and process personal information about you. This information will consist of at minimum your name and email address. We may also obtain sensitive personal data about you if you volunteer it during the completion of the online feedback form. We may also ask you for information when you report a problem with our site.

We are required by the Data Protection Act 1998 to ensure that any personal information you supply to us is only used for the purpose for which you provided it. We will use your personal data for the purposes described in the data protection notice that was given to you at the time your data were obtained

Barnardo’s will never rent or sell your personal information to other organisations. We may disclose your personal information:
- To other companies within our group
- To law enforcement agencies in connection with any investigation to help prevent unlawful activity

We will use technical and organisational measures to safeguard your personal data, for example:
- we store your personal data on secure servers
While we will use all reasonable efforts to safeguard your personal data, you acknowledge that the use of the internet is not entirely secure and for this reason we cannot guarantee the security or integrity of any personal data that are transferred from you or to you via the internet.
Posting or sending inappropriate content
If you post or send any content that we believe to be inappropriate or content in breach of any laws, such as defamatory content, we may use your personal information to inform relevant third parties such as your internet provider or law enforcement agencies.
Information about other individuals
If you give us information on behalf of someone else, you confirm that the other person has appointed you to act on his/her behalf and has agreed that you can:
- give consent on his/her behalf to the processing of his/her personal data
- receive on his/her behalf any data protection notices; and
- give consent to the processing of his/her sensitive personal data
Where we store your information
We may need to transfer your personal data to countries which are located outside the European Economic Area, for the purpose of storage. Any transfer of your data will be subject to a European Commission approved contract that will safeguard your privacy rights and give you remedies in the unlikely event of a security breach.
How to access your personal information
You have a right to know whether or not Barnardo’s holds any information about you (personal data) and a right to be provided with your information within 40 days in accordance with the Data Protection Act. We do not make a charge for this. It will help us to find your information if you can tell us something about the nature of your contact with us. We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.
